The Texas Free Trappers is a central-south Texas mountain man and rendezvous group, originally started by Joe “Grey Wolf” Wolf.
We hold our rendezvous in Shiner, Texas area twice a year – usually in February and November. We always welcome those wanting to find out more about “buckskinning” and the mountain man era. Our rendezvous include primitive camping, council fire, storytelling, music, and events such as: percussion/flintlock shooting using round balls, knife & hawk, primitive archery (no plastic nocks or aluminum arrows, etc.) and fire starting with flint & steel.
The White Smoke Brigade is the companion organization to the Texas Free Trappers; hosting monthly (usually the 4th Saturday) muzzleloader/black powder shoots near Canyon Lake, Texas. We shoot both paper targets and metal silhouettes.
