What IS rendezvous?

Rendezvous is an informal reenactment of the gatherings of mountain men in the Rocky Mountains. More than that, it is a gathering of folks that are interested in history, have a bit of a wild streak, can tell a good joke, make a grand 'apple pie', pitch a tent alone and keep a fire going in the rain. It's just fun.

Rendezvous as it exists today, is a historical re-enactment of the original Mountain Man Fur-Trade-Era Rendezvous, where traders from the east met with trappers from the Rockies to exchange furs and trade goods, usually involving a good bit of fire-water as well. Back then, it was a chance to catch up with old friends, meet some new ones, play a little music, swap stories/lies, possibly meet a new sweetheart if'n you didn't have yer own, engage in a little friendly competition, get supplies that were needed, and make a few dollars. That much hasn't changed. :-) Today, I think Rendezvous attracts the same kind of free-spirited, adventuresome, fiercely independent, strong-willed, capable, tough individuals that the original 'voos did -- we were just born a couple of hundred years too late to get in on it the first time around!

This is freedom, happiness and home all rolled into one.
