18th century handwriting
Here's a good website on deciphering and understanding 18th century handwriting: http://www.dohistory.org/on_your_own/toolkit/writing.html
Good examples of old-style alphabets and lots of history - handy for calligraphy, engraving, or scrimshawing some script on an authentic looking powder horn.
This is the style that women were encouraged to use (Italianate), as it was thought to be easier to learn and more feminine: http://www.dohistory.org/archive/doc039/039_p48i2_img.html
